Road Closures

Marathon Road Closures

October 29, 2017 (7AM – 2PM)

Major Closures (7 a.m. to 2 p.m.):

  • Montauk Highway (RT27A) between North Ocean Ave Patchogue and Connetquot Ave., Great River
  • Exit 46A off Sunrise Highway (RT 27) for Montauk Hwy., Oakdale
  • Southbound Nicholls Road (CR97) will be closed south of Sunrise Highway (RT27) at Church Street, Bayport
  • Southbound Broadway Ave., south of Sunrise Hwy. (RT27) Sayville
  • Great River Road, closed south of Montauk Hwy (RT27A)-Limited Access via Timber Point Road- to Local Residents

Alternate Routes available:

North Ocean Ave. and South Ocean Avenue will remain open to traffic.

Areas of Patchogue, west of South Ocean Ave., and south of Main Street can be accessed via side streets off South Ocean Ave and Division Street.

Bayport /Blue Point:

Areas of Bayport/Blue Point south of Montauk Hwy. can be accessed via Division Avenue in Blue Point, and both Gillette Ave., and Bayport Ave., in Bayport. Middle Road will also be accessible to these areas.


Areas of Sayville, south of Main Street can be accessed via Railroad Ave. and Gillette Avenue, and also Greene Avenue.

West Sayville:

Areas of West Sayville, south of Montauk Hwy., can be accessed via Tyler Ave., and Atlantic Ave.


Areas of Oakdale, south of Montauk Hwy., can be accessed via the use of Oakdale/Bohemia Rd. and Bridle Way. Franklin Ave. will also be accessible to these areas.

Great River:

The Great River community will have limited access via the use of a single lane on Timber Point Rd. and will be directed into Leeside Drive.

The following are the designated crossing points along the route where cars can cross Montauk Highway when gaps in the race exist:

  • North Ocean Ave. & Main St., Patchogue
  • Division Ave. & Montauk Hwy., Blue Point
  • Gillette Ave. & Montauk Hwy., Bayport
  • Bayport Ave. Montauk Hwy., Bayport
  • Amy Dr. & Montauk Hwy., Sayville
  • Railroad Ave/Gillette Ave & Montauk Hwy., Sayville
  • Greene Ave. & Montauk Hwy., Sayville
  • Tyler Ave/Atlantic & Montauk Hwy., West Sayville
  • Bridle Way & Montauk Hwy., Oakdale
  • Oakdale-Bohemia Rd & Montauk Hwy., Oakdale

To prepare for the start of the marathon and the festival, Main Street in Patchogue will close between West Avenue and River Avenue beginning at 3 a.m. on Sunday. Main Street between West Avenue and Ocean Avenue will be closed at 5 a.m. Main Street in Patchogue will reopen at 5 p.m. following the end of the Taste of Long Island Festival.

We will also be posting temporary no parking signs along Montauk Highway in advance of the marathon. Any vehicles parked on Montauk Highway from Great River to Blue Point between the hours of 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday will be relocated by the Suffolk County Police Department to a side street or parking lot.
